In May 2013, the City of Inverness in partnership with the Highland Indian Association hosted a reception for Barrie Osborne at the historic Town House to welcome him to the city and support Barrie’s vision to take the book to the big and small screens.

Barrie Osborne and Carole Kim Osborne with Dr Reddy, President of the Highland Indian Association and Mrs Uma Reddy. The partnership between the City and Highland Indian Association for this event highlighted the locations of India and Scotland in Books 2 and 3 of The Heartstone Odyssey.
The event was opened by the Provost of Inverness (right) and the Leader of Inverness Council, Cllr Drew Hendry (left). Trish Shorthouse (second from left), Highlands of Scotland Film Commission had helped initiate the project in the Highlands and is pictured in the photo alongside Barrie and Sitakumari.
Also present as special guests for the evening were the talented young musicians of Feis Rois, Kiltearn Fiddlers, the traditional music group founded by Alpha Munro (at right, next to Sitakumari). Alpha has been a longstanding supporter of Heartstone and ‘The Heartstone Odyssey’. The musicians gave the evening a perfect Scottish atmosphere alongside the India connection. The next day, Barrie and Carole were taken into the spectacular Scottish mountains in the far north west, the location of the finale of the story.
